Given that: 1) law practice is time-consuming, and it can be difficult to fit everything in; 2) we want to exercise; and 3) we like being connected with other women in the legal profession, we have created the Women Lawyers' Fitness Group. We run (or walk), cycle, do yoga, and bootcamp-style workouts. We are also starting a rotating schedule of classes based on demand and instructor availability, including tae kwon do and Senegalese dance. One of the best things about the Women Lawyers' Fitness Group is that it's either very inexpensive or FREE. Our classes cost between $3.00 and $5.00 per session, and activities like running and cycling are free. Just show up with your bottle of water (and business cards, if you want) and work out.
Our sponsors include the World Beat Cultural Center in Balboa Park, which provides a fantastic venue for our indoor classes.
Our current recurring events are:
Wednesday 6:30 a.m.-7:30 a.m. Bootcamp at the PETCO Park "Park at the Park," the large grass area open to the public located beyond centerfield. Rain cancels bootcamp. ONGOING; THERE WILL NOT BE BOOTCAMP DECEMBER 30 BUT WE WILL RESUME BOOTCAMP ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6.
Friday 6:30 a.m. 3-mile* out-and-back Harbor Run starting at West Ash Street and West Harbor Drive. Rain cancels this run. Run (or walk) at your own pace. ONGOING; NO SCHEDULED RUN ON DECEMBER 25; NO SCHEDULED RUN ON JANUARY 1; REGULAR RUN RESUMES JANUARY 8, 2010.
*there is also a 5-mile option
